The Latest.....

Amazing news on the light bulb front:

"A possible ban on incandescent bulbs - with filaments - in offices, street lights and private homes by the end of the decade

EU officials are working on a directive that would compel the use of modern low-energy fluorescent light bulbs. It could come into force as early as next year." (source BBC online)

Which, when you read the article below makes quite a lot of sense. Not often I hear something to do with the environment that makes me happy- nice change.

Have a great weekend everyone :¬)

Interesting "Climbing photos" on Feb. 18th and 25th! Makes one think about "survival and strength (and possibly stupidity as well)"

But when you're young, and looking at a challenge; ones mind seems to say, "I CAN DO THAT!"

Then when we start out and get a little way up, we wonder about our 'strength' to continue, and our ability to 'survive' (shakily). So we try moving back down; as getting hurt is at the forefront of our minds! Nearing the bottom again, it crosses our minds (I was 'stupid' to try this)!

We often may not realize what dire consequences may result later, when we first start out on something. We should at least be already prepared to meet out "Maker," should an unfortunate 'slip' occur!

Towards THAT end, you may be interested in the following...

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ "CODES" RIGHT OUT OF YOUR OWN BIBLE, that "CONTROL" your Destiny?

Thank you for having a look at my blog, and leaving a comment Rudy.
I was going to comment on how I'm "not so young" being 32, but after a quick look at your own blog, it would seem I am young after all. I should have guessed you were from an older generation- your grammar is too good to be a mere youth :)
It's an incredible world here in the net... (Where I can have this conversation with a complete stranger in California)

When climbing we do take great care with safety equipment, so the idea of meeting our maker is not usually at the forefront of our minds, very rarely a trip to an ER perhaps....

Like many climbers, I choose to climb for many reasons. It makes me feel alive, in a way that not taking risk cannot achieve. The sport takes me to some of the most beautiful places in the country (and world for that matter), and puts me in touch with nature in a most immediate way. If you believe in Darwin's theory (which I do), there must be some part of all of us that enjoys the movements of climbing. Ever pushed your physical limits to find out what you could do?

I'm afraid I don't follow any religion, so my interest in the bible is limited. Instead I choose to live my life trying to be honest and fair to myself and others, and don't feel I need a book to tell me how to do that. I enjoy this life enough that I do not need the promise of another life to follow.
I feel I would be stupid not to live life to the full, and without some risk, it would be only a shadow of a life to me.
I hope this makes more sense of my desire to climb up cliff faces :)

(Guess what I'm doing tomorrow- yup- climbing again..... ;)

I've checked your profile; come on Rudy- you must like at least one book in addition to the Bible....
:)
