Being a heterosexual male, I have a bit of a thing for cars. From the age of 9 I became a Porschephile. Finally, 5 years ago, I was able to make dreams reality when I bought Betty (she's Elizabeth when something breaks and costs me lost of money). This car is amazing. It will accomodate my mountainbike, everything I need for camping and cycling for a weekend, and I can still take the roof off and stow it in the trunk. There's no other 2 seat mid-engined sports car out there that can do this. It will also go around corners like a Le Mans car (it raced there in '72 and came 1st in class) and sounds like a real car- unlike most modern vehicles which are boring and quiet. I've driven many fast cars, but none were quite as engaging or fun to drive. And it's a loverly 70's orange too!
So there we go, Betty, my 1971 Porsche 914, I smile every time I drive her :¬)

I had a car named Betty too. She was a 1988 Buick Century. She was old but she was reliable. Poor thing passed away just last fall.
Which phrase was that? Is it copyright protected? If you do come over here with that cutlery, may I borrow some, it looks lovely. I have an opinion on the design of everyday objects (come to think of it, I have an opinion on most things ;¬), which will probably be the subject of a rather dry, lengthy blog entry at some point in the future. Sigh. I need to learn how to add humour to my writing.....
Hi Robert,
I just got a beer from outside- wow the moon is bright.
I'm sorry to hear about you're recent loss, considering they are just lumps of metal, it's amazing how attatched we can get to our cars. I lost an old friend last spring, her name was Jasmine, she was a yellow type 3 VW, and we shared many great experiences. I think she left because of my affair with Betty, I was neglecting her, so I understand why she went. Sometimes I wonder where she is now though..
